Healthy Food in Health Care at CleanMed
Since 2006 the Healthy Food in Health
Care Program at HCWH has held a bi-annual conference, FoodMed,
to bring together leaders in sustainable health care food
service. In 2013, the FoodMed Conference will join forces with
CleanMed, in Boston, Massachusetts , April 24-26. CleanMed 2013 will offer a
comprehensive Healthy Food in Health Care track which will
include workshops, tours and sessions devoted to innovative
strategies and best practices for building a healthy and
sustainable hospital food service. Also at CleanMed 2013, don't
miss the 2nd Healthy Food in Health Care Award Program! This
merger creates a wonderful opportunity for leaders from all
areas of hospital operations to learn together and return to
their facilities with a shared mission to lead on health care
sustainability and a preventive health agenda. Below is a taste

Healthy Food in Healthcare Hospital Tour:
Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center
Wednesday, April 24th 2013 | 9:00AM –
12:30 PM
Join the Healthy Food in Health Care team to tour Beth Israel
Deaconess Medical Center, an award-winning facility in healthy
and sustainable food initiatives, and taste the hospital’s
delicious food. The tour will showcase BIDMC’s efforts to
increase local purchasing, decrease sugar-sweetened beverage
consumption, develop a composting program, and foster community
engagement with their food system. Attendees will hear from
hospital staff on strategy development for local food
initiatives, and from Save that Stuff, a local recycling and
composting company.
Lunch onsite at BIDMC. Transportation
provided to and from the hospital.

Health Care Without Harm recognizes
leaders and models in Healthy Food in Health Care through this
bi-annual Awards program. This year we will recognize winners in
the categories of: Sustainable Food Procurement; Food Climate
Health Connection; Clinical Advocacy and Engagement’; Exemplary
Food Service Professional. The Awards will be presented at
CleanMed on Thursday, April 25.

Healthy Food in Health Care Celebration Dinner
Join us for the 2013 Healthy Food in
Health Care Celebration Dinner - a celebration of our members’
work throughout the past year. Join the Healthy Food in
Health Care team for delicious, food and to honor our 2012
Healthy Food in Health Care Award Winners. All CleanMed attendees
are welcome to meet and mingle with fellow health care
professionals and those interested in healthy food systems,
while tasting New England's bounty.
