DO/MPH Candidate, Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine
Zach Burns just finished his first year of medical school at Nova Southeastern University in Florida. There, he co-founded the student group Plant-Based Healthcare to engage classmates in education and advocacy around reducing meat and dairy consumption to prevent chronic illness, mitigate climate change, and support animals. Having worked in political organizing and community health, Zach is disturbed by the disproportionate toxins in poor and non-white neighborhoods. He aspires to incorporate political advocacy into a clinical practice at a community health center.
