Sustainability and Standards Program Manager at Sutter Health
Tom Cooper is the Sustainability and Standards Program Manager for Sutter Health. In this dual role he is Responsible for the System-wide development, implementation, and administration of design and construction standards. Tom conducts research of new building products and systems for inclusion in design and construction best practices and guidelines. He leads sourcing initiatives to reduce first and operational costs while integrating environmental criteria in the selection process.
Tom also manages the Sutter Health sustainability program. Tom coordinates the work of 7 sustainability subcommittees focused on specific environmental initiatives and employee engagement across the company. Tom collaborates with staff, Communications/Marketing, Lean Coaches, department and site leadership to achieve Sutter Health sustainability goals.
Prior to joining Sutter Health in 2012, Tom was responsible for the green buildings program at Kaiser Permanente where he worked for close to 22 years.
Tom has a Social Science degree from the University of California, Berkeley and previously worked in the construction industry as a carpenter for many years.
