E1 – The Power of Storytelling: Shining a Light on Your Sustainability Work

Cumberland 1/2

Communicating your hospital or health system’s sustainability goals and achievements through storytelling can have far-reaching impact on your brand recognition, mission alignment, reputation and ability to influence public opinion and policy. With the Sundance-supported short film “Do No Harm” serving as the inspiration, this workshop will be led by two leading experts in health and climate communications who will utilize a combination of lecture/examples, small group work and group presentations/feedback to help participants develop a powerful sustainability narrative.

Workshop goal:

Participants learn how to tell a powerful story and are equipped to make the pitch the leadership for incorporating climate and health storytelling as part of the health system or hospitals communications strategy.

Communications staff, hospital leadership, sustainability leads, doctors and nurses would all benefit from participation.

Participants in this workshop will:

  • Understand the benefits to the health system or hospital of communicating climate commitments (brand recognition, reputation, mission alignment, influence on public opinion and policy to improve health outcomes).
  • Learn the elements of a compelling story through examples of effective storytelling in the health care sector.
  • Understand how to make storytelling a regular part of your communications strategy.
  • Practice telling a story to share with your leadership and communications team.
